Rich-first group

Participants are ordered from highest preference for Southeast Asia (rich vis) to lowest.

For each participant, the first bar "|||||||||||||" is the fund allocation to Southeast Asia (rich vis). The second bar is the fund allocation to Middle East (bar chart). The third and fourth bars (side-by-side) are the donation to Southeast Asia (rich vis) vs. Middle East (bar chart).

[001] 46-year-old male from Canada. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 80/100. I lived in Thailand for four years. The migrant crisis in that part of the world is important to me as I witness it a few times

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. The crisis in the middle east is major. I believe 30% of all available budget should be directed there to help the people in need. But there are other part of the world that needs help, then can use the other 70%

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 100/0. Darn, I made a mistake. I wanted to put all the money to South East asia due to my attachement to that part of the world. If you wish to disqualified me because of that, I totally understand. My apologies

Comment: I am sorry i made a mistake with the 100$ allocations

[002] 27-year-old female from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 6 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 81/100. The problem seems to be cooncentrated in this region. I have never heard of familiar situations taking place on such a huge scale in other regions like Europe or USA.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. We also have immigrant problems located in other parts of the world. I know it is serious in the middle east, so not all money can be spent on them.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. It is hard to decide who to help more or less. It is not a huge sum of money so as "not an expert" I would rather split my money equaly.

[003] 29-year-old male from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. I think that looking at numbers of migrants in general, the split is fair. Such funds relocations can help both migrants in Southeast Asia and those from other regions.

|||||||||| 10/100. There is too much migrants from Middle East.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||| 90/10. I prefer to suppor Southeast Asia migrants. I trust them more.

[004] 30-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 5 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. There are a lot of causes for death is South Asia but the rest of the world should still be factored, hence allocating 50% to both

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. There are less death causes seen in Middle East to those who survived, therefore meaning less but still some support is needed

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both are valuable to human life so I would divide equally

[005] 22-year-old male from United Kingdom (born in Greece). Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 76/100. Migrants in the Southeast Asia region have seemingly way more problems and are prone to death in bigger numbers than in other regions. Seemingly, again.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 53/100. Again, migrants in the Middle East are prone to danger, especially if we have to think of the current situation, terrorism and violence occuring in Middle Eastern countries

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I want to equally help both as much as I can. It may come off strangely if we think of the circumstances and data given, but both are in need and the thought of putting one above the other is bad for me

[006] 47-year-old male from Italy. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 42/100. because it is a region with a high risk of death

||||||||||||||||||||| 21/100. to better distribute resources in all regions of the world

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. to better distribute resources in all regions of the world

[007] 20-year-old male from New Zealand. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. Southeast Asia has a lot of migrants in trouble, however other areas need to be covered too

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. The issues seem bad, but not insanely so?

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/70. South east Asia seems worse

[008] 19-year-old male from Portugal. Other. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 21 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 55/100. Due to the Afghanistan war that began in 2001 and continues until today, probably many people want and need help to getting out of Afghanistan.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. Since 30% of migrants in Middle East didn't survive, seems legit to give about 1/3 of the funds to help them.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 41/59. It seems, (in the news) that people from Southeast Asia needs more help than people from Middle East

[009] 19-year-old male from Israel. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 10 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 42/100. Because often they suffer from horrible governments

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. I think it's proportionate to their rate

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||| 90/10. Because I feel more sympathy towards Asian migrants

[010] 20-year-old male from Portugal. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 14 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. There are other regions on the planet that need help as much as they do, so I think 25% is fair to guarantee that others get help too

|||||||| 8/100. These are countries that are not poor, but people are chased because their religion and these mainly internal problems that need other types of intervention.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||| 74/26. I actually did it wrong, I wanted to donate the other way, 74$ Southeast Asia and the rest to Middle East and that's because I believe Southeast Asia countries are poorer and they need more help as they can fight these problems on their own.

[011] 28-year-old male from United Kingdom (born in France). Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 5 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. Although I believe that all migrants must be a source of concern for the UNHCR, this region has been under-considered for decades.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. I believe that this is a fair share to distribute the overall IOM budget worldwide.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I don't think that migrants from one country or the other deserve more my donation.

[012] 25-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 3 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. There seems to be a real issue in southeast asia but there are many other countries that struggle also

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. more seem to survive here

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. it feels fair

[013] 24-year-old NA from NA. NA. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 8 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 61/100. IT SEEMS THE REGION IS IN GRAVE NEED OF HELP BC THERE ARE MANY FACTORS THAT REDUCE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE (EX. POVERTY, ACCIDENTS, DROWNINGS)

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/100. THE ASSISTANCE IS URGENT BUT WILL ONLY HELP TEMPORARILY

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 63/37. I FEEL LIKE MY DONATION WILL BE MORE OF USE THERE AND WILL MAKE AN IMMEDIATE CHANGE

[014] 19-year-old male from Portugal. Other. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 10 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. Because it seems they need more help beacuse of the war that is going on those sides

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. Because they need our help to end that war and help the childrens and families that are suffering with that

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/70. i made that choice because in the news it seems to be harder to live in Southeast Asia than Middle east

[015] 28-year-old female from United Kingdom (born in Italy). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 8 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 49/100. I believe the information provided in the chart suggests that it is important to provide support to migrants coming from Southeast Asia. However, there are many other areas of the world which are underdeveloped and migrants coming from those areas. I expect that also in those areas migrants can die for similar reasons as those explicated in the page before. Therefore, I have pondered my judgement towards an almost equal allocation of resources, just slightly more towards other regions since probably a bit larger in number.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. The chart presented before indicates that about 100 migrants died, +300 survived. Considering that many migrants are moving from regions different from Middle East, I believe my judgement regarding the allocation of resources is a fair balance to avoid disproportional resource allocation to the Middle East only.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/30. I think the figures provided in the slides before suggests that migrants from the Middle East are a bit more in need of financial support than those from Southeast Asia. Furthermore, I took into consideration my personal experiences in terms of donating to companies/associations helping migrants from specific regions of the globe

Comment: Thank you for involving me and best of luck with your study.

[016] 19-year-old male from Finland. Not in paid work (e.g. homemaker', 'retired or disabled). Likely to donate: 2/7. Time on task: 12 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. Even though Southeast Asia has a sizable migrant death toll, that doesn't close out the fact that other regions in the world also have the same problem. Since I based this decision on these two sources, I'm giving it a slight minority.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. The IOM is an international organization, so I don't see any reason to put all focus in the Middle East. Besides, everyone's life has the same value so these things need to be looked at globally, in my opinion.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. No life has more value than another. By equally dividing the donation, I make the sentiment to help everyone in need and not preferring one group over the other.

Comment: Some of the wording could be clarified and simplified a little.

[017] 31-year-old female from NA. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 6 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. I understand the plight of migrants in Southeast Asia but I also know that migrants in other regions of the world experience similar struggles. Based on my own knowledge I know that people in South America, the Middle East/Africa, and Asia all struggle. So I gave SE Asia roughly a third of the funds.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. Similar to my rationale for migrants in SE Asia - I thought it was fair to distribute roughly a third of the funding based on my own knowledge. However, I will say that the impact of how the statistics were laid out in the SE Asia case were much more compelling.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Fairness, I know that people in both regions are suffering and wanted to provide support to all people.

[018] 22-year-old female from United Kingdom. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. They def need a good amount of help, but i would want to see how they compare to other regions before allocating more

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 29/100. Same reasoning as last time

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/49. I couldn't get it to land evenly at 50/50 Both about equal no. of people, it felt like

[019] 25-year-old male from Greece. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 12 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. the problem with migrants is global. So i think the 1/3 must go to South east

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 34/100. as migrants problem is global i think 1/3 of funds is enough for M. East

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. i think people in S.East need more money but on the other hand its fair to share money

Comment: no

[020] 48-year-old female from United Kingdom. Not in paid work (e.g. homemaker', 'retired or disabled). Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 10 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 31/100. Random guess. Impossible to make informed judgement without knowing what other demand UNHCR faces.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. Again, impossible to make judgement without knowing migrant need in other regions

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 64/36. Greater number of deaths in Southeast Asia

[021] 34-year-old female from United Kingdom. Not in paid work (e.g. homemaker', 'retired or disabled). Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. I think all migrants need the same help so would split it 50/50

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. All migrants deserve the same help so I split it 50/50

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. All migrants deserve the same help and funding

[022] 29-year-old male from Portugal. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 7 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. There shouldn't be any difference when helping migrants. A migrant from Southeast Asia e no different than a migrant from another region, if the circumstances are similar

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. If the circumstances are similar, there shouldn't be any difference helping migrants from their regions.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I want to help the migrants problem equally

[023] 31-year-old male from Portugal. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. The funds should be allocated to all different regions according to need and number of migrants and not privilege a region over the others

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. The help should be uniform according all regions depending on the number of people that need help, and not favouring any region over the others

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. The help should be uniform across all regions and not favouring any region over the others

[024] 22-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. I feel like it's unfair to fund any migrants more than others. Southeast asian migrants aren't the only ones out their suffering.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Again, I feel like funding should be equal. We're only seeing statistics for one area.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. They're both helping migrants equally. So it's only fair a spread the money equally. I don't think either charity deserves it more than the other.

[025] 30-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 36/100. If you had 100 coins and if you decided to help Southeast Asia with 36 coins which is a very good amount and rest 64 coins will get divided for rest of the regions. So it give a fair chance to other regions also who have their own issues.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 36/100. Same reason as above. Other regions need help too and I do believe 36% aid is a great value for them.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. If it is only two regions to work with I would do 50/50 no doubt.

Comment: It was a good study and I've specific charities whom I donate Monthly.

[026] 31-year-old male from United States. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 3 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 29/100. SE Asia is a small part of the world, and should get more than the rest.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 29/100. I dont think there should be a primary focus, the allocation should be spread to help as many as possible.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Its a fair split.

[027] NA-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 10 min.

|||||||||| 10/100. ATTEMPTING TO SHARE THE FUNDS EQUALLY

|||||||||| 10/100. equally sharing funds worldwide

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. share equally between both causes

[028] 30-year-old male from Portugal. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 17 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 29/100. Aid should be equally distributed throughout the world. It would be unfair to provide most of the aid in Asia.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 29/100. This organizations should help too all people on the world.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Although people in the Middle East experience more difficulties, I think (perhaps) Southest Asia has a larger number of people (due to a larger population). Therefore, I distributed the same amount of money to the two regions.

[029] 42-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 4 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. I believe that relief should be equally spread. Hearing how horrible it is for one area does not detract from the fact that other areas need aid just as much

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Same as before. Giving me stats, however awful they are will not change my mind that aid should be shared out

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both seem to need the aid

Comment: I assume the study was about if peoples opinions changed when they were given info about how aid is distributed.

[030] 56-year-old female from Italy. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 9 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. Migrants from all regions deserve help

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. A charity shouldn't allocate all its money for a single region

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. To make things equal

[031] 25-year-old male from Germany (born in Albania). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 18 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. I understand that the situation in southeast asia is very bad but the same might/is be also in other parts of the world. And other parts of the world means a larger number of people that need help so I gave 65% to the rest of the world and 35% to southeast asia countries.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. Same reasoning here, equally help all the migrants all over the world. This would change if something else is happening (ex. war), then I would allocate more funds to this region for this amount of time that the even is happening. But if the situation is bad everywhere then equally share the funds to all those in need.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. All migrants are in need so they should share the same amount of funds.

[032] 38-year-old male from Portugal. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 11 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. I think 33% it's fair, comparing to other regions like migrants from europe

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. Same as previous.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. It's fair de split between the two organizations.

[033] 34-year-old female from United Kingdom (born in United States). Not in paid work (e.g. homemaker', 'retired or disabled). Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 4 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. It leaves funding for other regions of the world

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. So it can fund other regions as well

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I would like to help each equally

[034] 26-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 4 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 55/100. Whilst Southeast Asia is a large geographical area, it does not consider Africa, South America, and the area in south Eurasia covering Russia.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 56/100. Again, there are a number of migrants in Africa, and South America who are under the same plight.

|||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 24/76. Again, there are a number of migrants in Africa, and South America who are under the same plight.

[035] 24-year-old male from United States (born in Sweden). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 5 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 49/100. I believe that there are a greater sum of people in Southeast Asia than other regions.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/100. I believe a bit more should be invested to help the migrants in the Middle East because they don't receive that much aid from other countries.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/49. Again there is a greater amount of people in Southeast Asia.

[036] 31-year-old female from Portugal. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 11 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 28/100. I assume the "other regions" includes the whole world, so 28% seems like a big percentage in comparison to other regions that I imagine also need help.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 32/100. I've seen a lot of news about migrants from the Middle East that need help. Also, the graph that I saw in this study shows a large amount of deaths.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I can't decide which migrants need help the most, so I split the funds in half.

[037] 28-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||| 14/100. Southeast is just one part of the world and one region where this is a problem. As such, I think that the majority of the money should be spared to help all other regions across the world.

|||||||||||||||||| 18/100. The Middle East is a bigger area than Southeast Asia, and as such, should receive slightly more of the money.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both areas need contributions and it feels fairest to donate equal amounts, despite the fact that I feel more strongly towards Southeast Asia (given that I have travelled there often and visited charity projects).

[038] 31-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 6 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. SEA is a big region and therefore deserves resources, but there are also migrant issues that need funding in other regions

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. 40% is a good chunk to help a region currently in need, but other organisations are also focused on that area too

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I don't have strong ties to either cause, so helping both equally seems fair

[039] 31-year-old male from United Kingdom (born in Venezuela, Bolivarian Republic of). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 5 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. They are not the only ones in the world needing help

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. Same reason, they are not the only ones needing help

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. They are both good causes and a fifty fifty split is fair

[040] 33-year-old male from Estonia. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 10 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 45/100. Other region is bigger than SE Asia.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Everyone should have equal possibilities.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Same as for previous - both should have equal possibilities etc.

[041] 32-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 4 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. The migrants from other regions require assistance also, south east asia is one small part of a large world and everyone should be assisted where needed

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 31/100. the majority of those fleeing do survive, the money should be pushed towards the areas where they dont

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. It is not up to me to decide who is more important that others

[042] 23-year-old male from Hungary. Other. Likely to donate: 2/7. Time on task: 11 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. I know that there's also a migrant crisis in West Asia/Northern Africa, so I thought they should also spend money there, and I'm sure there're other places around the world as well, so about 1/3 seemed fine.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 43/100. My thought process was similar as before, but it seemed like a higher percentage of migrants died here than in the previous choice, so I thought they'd need a higher percentage of funds allocated there (since this organization helps worldwide as well, it didn't really matter that it was a different one).

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/60. It seemed like they need more help there with the higher mortality rate (which was an eyeballed assumption since the first data was so detailed and hard to sum up).

[043] 35-year-old male from Netherlands. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 7 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 31/100. about 1/3 of the funds should be allocated to the migrants in south east asia because I feel that's a significant amount for 1 region alone. There are many more migrants in other regions who also need help.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. About 25 percent of the refugees died. I feel that's a significant amount, there for I decided that 40% of the funds should go to that region.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I can't possibly decided wich region deserves my money more. Both are horrible situation which affects lots of people in dire need. Therefore I decided to split the money evenly.

[044] 25-year-old male from Greece. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 7 min.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. 1/5 of the total budget seems the right amount for the region

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 29/100. 1 in 4 migrants die in the Middle East. almost 30%, sounds like the right amount

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/70. If i'm not mistaken, far more many people live in the Southeast Asia than in the Middle East, so allocating the amounts that way, seems the right choice.

[045] 31-year-old male from Netherlands (born in Greece). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 5 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. Because I think that this region counts up to that percentage of the total migrants globally.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. I think that this area is the main priority in terms of numbers and closed pathways to move.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/60. In terms of total migrant population and war crises, Middle East has more need of assistance

[046] 26-year-old male from Spain. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 5 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. I guess the same thing is happening all over the world, not just there.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. Because it's the biggest event of this kind right now, but probably not the only one.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both organizations need it to help both situations.

[047] 21-year-old male from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 4 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. Noone wants to live in Asia

||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 27/100. There are also migrants in other places all over the world that will need help from this funding

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 39/100. Lots of migrants needing help here, but also in the rest of the world

[051] NA-year-old female from United Kingdom. DATA EXPIRED. Likely to donate: 2/7. Time on task: 13 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Clearly there is issues with migration from Southeast Asia, & the area is "poorer", so they are deserving of support. I'm not aware of any crisis within the area that would make them more at risk to other migrants however. So I'm happy for them to be supported, but feel there may be other more at risk population groups? However my guess is purely on speculation, as I'm not knowledgeable of the topic, so 50% seemed fair? - I also have a desire that I do want to help those in Southeast Asia, as I have spent time there.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 65/100. I feel there is probably a greater need to help migrants from the Middle East. Again, I find it difficult to be able to prioritise one group over another, I can only do that by putting faith in the charity, but I'd say the Middle East may have some extra need above other groups of migrants

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I want to share halfway, as I feel it is fair. I have said I believe the Middle East is probably more in need - however I've spent time in Asia, so I feel I "owe them" my loyalty to an extent. Also, the individual need of one cannot be greater than another, so a halfway split is fair

Comment: I tend to not donate money as I fall within a low income group, I would be more likely to donate time & efforts

|||||||||||||||||||||||||| 26/100. because we have limited funds and there are a lot of problem areas around the world, better to see first if we can do enough with this amount of money.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 41/100. this region needs more money because it's a real problem area, better to help them over there then to have them here in europe.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 32/68. this can not be right because i am sure that it was the other way around, so 68 for the middle east and 32 for the southeast asia, and it's because the middle east needs a lot more work, and it's better that they stay over there then that they are coming to europe.

Comment: none

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. It seems as if the reasons for migration are not as dire as they are in other regions.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. The reason the migrants are leaving is much more dire and their chance of survival in their own country is not good.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 0/100. I think I did it incorrectly or my computer erred (I definitely switched to giving 100% to Middle East) but I believe that the Middle East's migrants reason for leaving is much more pressing and they may not survive if they do not leave.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 56/100. They are struggling mightily in comparison to immigrants from other countries and other parts of the world. That means we should help out these people is a little bit more but not totally forget about people from other parts of the world.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 71/100. They need the help more than other groups.

[055] 21-year-old male from Poland. Due to start a new job within the next month. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 15 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. The reason why i've allocated 30% for Southeast Asia is that other regions have also problems with that and if u compare victims then it will be like 30/70 so i just want to help everyone on the same level

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 49/100. This is the same reason as previously, I really believe that my percentages are balanced for everyone and it would be the best choice

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 45/55. To be honest i wanted to do 55 for middle east but i missclicked so Middle East is quite bigger than southest asia so i wanted to give them money equally

[056] 41-year-old male from Greece. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 13 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. It seems that Southeast Asia has bigger problem than the rest of the world but it is still only a 8.5% of the world's population.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. It looks like 1/3 of all migrants from Middle East are dying in the process. This is a bad percentage.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I would donate the same amount of money to any organization that servers the same cause. I think it is unfair to do it otherwise.

[057] 24-year-old male from Portugal. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 15 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. In my opinion, even though Southeast Asia has a great amount of population, i think helping other regions might be more important. For instance, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraque, etc.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. In this case, helping migrants from Middle East is as important as helping migrants from other regions. The Middle East is a region that is severily affected by civil wars and conflicts, but migrants from other regions, such as Mexico or Venezuela also have several problems in their countries which justifies the help from organizations around the world.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 28/72. In my opinion, migrants from the Middle East are in constant danger from all the conflicts they have in their countries, so the probability of having severe problems and die is much higher then in Southeast Asia

[058] 34-year-old male from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 14 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. We should equally help all migrants.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/100. Assuming the situation is the worst in that area, more money should be allocated there.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 65/35. I have a bad association with the Middle East so more money goes to migrants from Asia.

[059] 18-year-old male from United Kingdom. Other. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 17 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 55/100. The immigrants I see on the news are almost always trying to flee from regions in Southeast Asia, with all the conflict going on. They should be given the most help as we can't seriously expect them to stay with all the fighting taking place.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 75/100. Again, there is a lot of conflict in the middle east, never seeming to end. With all the homes reduced to rubble and constant gunfire and explosions, I think these areas should be given a higher priority in the world.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 45/55. The previous page said I was donating $55 to the Middle East and $45 to Southeast Asia. The struggles in the Middle East are reported on more frequently by the media, so it seems to be the bigger issue of the two.

[060] 38-year-old male from United States. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 5 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. The information resonated with me so the most utilitarian thing I could do was split the money 50/50

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/100. The Middle East has been disproportionately affected by war crimes by the US so I think that more money should be designated to them.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Having learned about both populations, I could not choose between the two. 50/50 split seemed the most fair.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. In my opinion, 20% is a good division in order to this institution be able to help in other regions to. (I assume that other regions have considerably more migrants together than only one region, in thsi case Southeast Asia)

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. I assume that Middle East region is larger than Southeast so i allocate more. Other regions, in my opinion need more investment because of the number of migrants.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 36/64. To be coherent with my previous choices, i attribute more money to middle east than southeast Asia mainly because of the number of migrants involved.

[062] 20-year-old male from Greece. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 27 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Based on the number of migrands shown , I think higher than 50% invested for South Asia would "abandon" other regions in need. But still, based on the seriousness of the problem in this specific region i believe it should be the number one priority.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 80/100. Based on my external knowledge most migrands travel away from the Middle East region compared to the rest of the world. Therefore a noticable larger amount of money should be invested for this region.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/65. Actually I accidently reversed the answers. I would allocate 65 dollars to help migrants in the Middle East and 35 dollars for Southeast Asia. Explanation: Based on the number of migrants presented to me earlier in the study it seems that more people are in need in the region of Middle East than Southeast Asia.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. Southwest Asia like Syria and South-Central Asia like Afghanistan have the highest rates of refugees and in more need of help.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. If 100 of 400 people die due to conflitcs in Middle East and since Middle East population is composed most by Syrian refugees it needs priority in help.

|||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 20/80. (I meant to allocate 80% on Middle East and 20$ on Southeast Asia). Middle East is most composed by Syrian refugees who come from West Asia and those have the highest rates of refugees who are in more need of help.

|||||||||||||||||||||||| 24/100. While SEA has a refugee problem, the relative number of refugees compared to other regions of the world should be relatively small.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 75/100. The Middle East is one of the regions that has the most trouble with refugees.

|||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 20/80. Personally I am more concerned about the issues in the Middle East, media coverage probably plays a role in that.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. It sounds like the people in SE Asia really need assistance, as so many aren't surviving - however, I know that this is the case for many, many people across the globe, and many are escaping situations far worse than those in SE Asia.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. This seems to be an area where risk of death is extremely high for the migrants, and the people are being forced to escape a very dangerous situation, so I believe they deserve a good portion of funding - while acknowledging that other's in other areas also need help.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/30. People fleeing the middle east are at higher risk of death, and I believe that they are escaping a worse humanitarian crisis, so deserve the greater share of the funds.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 38/100. Southeast Asia shouldn't take most of the funding while compared to the rest of the world.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. As the situation in the Middle East is in dire need of help, focusing the funding on it should be a primary target.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I don't like to choose sides.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. The problem of migration is a common phenomenon - helping this region will help reduce this phenomenon and save lives. In the past, very large financial resources were allocated to migrants from Africa.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 80/100. The numbers shown are scary. A lot of people - mainly women and children - die. By helping them we can save basic social units - families.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. There are no better or worse people - that's why my donation is fair and equal.

Comment: The study shows the problem - help is needed. Many people are unaware of the enormity of the matter and the tragedy of people fleeing their native countries.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||| 90/10. The middle east has enough exposure as it is, they don't need more.

[009] 23-year-old male from Italy. Other. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 28 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. I have chosen to place 60% of the funds in the countries of Southeast Asia because I think that there is a need to give a greater contribution to those countries than to others

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 80/100. I chose to give 80% of contributions to migrants from the middle east because I think that IOM can give a great help to people living in the middle east, so that people that for example have to run away from wars can be helped in the process and consequently the deaths will decrease.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/60. I decided to divide money this way because the situation in the Middle East seems to me to be more serious than in Southeast Asia, which does not mean that even Southeast Asia should not be appropriately helped, so I decided to donate almost half of the money to the Southeast Asia.

[010] 22-year-old male from Poland. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 11 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/100. Southeast Asia is a very important region. There are a lot of citizens, whose incomes are very low and the same goes for migrants, thus I have chosen 51%.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/100. Middle East seems to be more developing thus I chose it to allocate more.

||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 13/87. Middle East is more important for me, it seems to be more developing.

||||||||||||||| 15/100. Migration and the dangers of doing so is an issue worldwide and so other regions must also be allocated large amounts of money.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. Migrating is a dangerous thing to do and is occuring worldwide. However, to my knowledge, it does appear to be a larger issue in the Middle East. It is dangerous, and kills people and children day after day. Thus, more % of money must be spent here.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both charities do a fantastic job. When I donate in reality, I divide my money up equally regardless of the prevalence of the issue. I trust that both charities will spend the money in a responsible and helpful way.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. I only gave 25% of the funds to Southeast Asia because I think the african peopple who is dying trying to go through the mediterranean sea are much worse

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. I think this is where the real tragedy is. I gave the highest amount of money to the Midle East because I see everyday in the news how people are dying. The victims here are the more numerous

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/65. Because, as I said, I think it is more necessary to help Middle East people who are escaping from war and terorism and it is scenery is much worse than what it is happening in Asia

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. They both need help, is not right to help someone better than someone else, expecially if we're talking about money help, so 50-50% it's good

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 43/100. There a re a lot of deaths for migrants in that area, so a large percentage of the funds should go there

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I believe help is needed all over, so splitting the money 50/50 means no area is more or less important than the other

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. The migrant crisis in the Middle East is very complex and involves a lot of people. They also face extreme situations of war and persecution.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. It's hard to be the judge of who you want to help more as migrants from both regions are in need of help.

[020] 20-year-old male from NA. Other. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 10 min.

||||||||||||||||| 17/100. I selected a smaller proportion for Southeast Asia given that it is one region and the scale of migrants who died from the chart is likely a small area if taking into account total migrant crisis around the world

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 28/100. This is a fairly larger allocation while still taking into account the global scale. I chose this because to my knowledge this region has suffered these issues for many years and the issue seems to be continuous.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. If it was in my hands, I would allocate equal money. To me this seems to be ovrerall the most beneficial. I would personally have not much of a great reason to allocate more to any other so this choice seems sensible to me.

[021] 33-year-old female from Portugal. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 14 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 39/100. I think a large percentage should be directed to where there is the greatest focus but as Asia is very large and with a large population we should distribute aid equally but taking into account the amount of migrants per area

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Once again, I think we should focus on the focus of the problem. Whether in the Middle East or the largest focus, I think most of the aid should be there and the rest is distributed to other regions.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 53/47. I would give more to what I think is the worst case scenario. In this case, the Middle East is very bad and we should be more focused on that.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. It's hard without a greater awareness and knowledge of the need in other parts of the world, but the facts presented here for the Middle East are sobering to say the least.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/70. Largely because of the sheer numbers. Perhaps the visual displays influenced me too: the one on the Middle East really brought the situation home, whereas the graph for SE Asia, although of course effective, did not have the impact of what was present for the Middle East.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 45/100. Because, from what I have heard in the news, the migrant crisis is one of the biggest humanitarian issues which currently face the world and need more funds to resolve.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/60. More donations from the world would be going towards the middle east as it has more publicity so I would rather donate to the issue with more likely less donations while still helping the migrants in the Middle East.

[027] 29-year-old female from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 2/7. Time on task: 9 min.

|||||||||| 10/100. The situation of migrants in Southeast Asia is bad, but help is needed in other parts of the world as well.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. There is a lot of migrants in this region and they need material help.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both are equally important.

[028] 20-year-old male from Poland. NA. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 12 min.

|||||||||| 10/100. I'm sure there are a lot more migrants in other regions than southeast asia

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. I roughly estimate this amount would be sufficient to help migrants in middle east, but i don't know exact amount of funds to allocate.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I do not favor any of the organisations

[029] 31-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 7 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. This isn't just a problem in one region, it is in other regions too.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. This is clearly a big problem in the Middle East, but other regions need to be considered.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/70. I feel like both are good causes however greater emphasis on migrants in Southeast Asia

[030] 51-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 19 min.

|||||||||||||||| 16/100. SE Asia is not a huge population, considered globally. Also there are other regions (Middle East, Africa) with much larger population share encountering similar issues.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. The Middle east is particularly problematic right now, so should be a priority.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/65. ME is greater priority

[031] 32-year-old male from NA. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 33 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. There are refugees from 4 main regions of the world: Southeast Asia, Middle East Asia, Africa and South America. It is better to equally split the funding.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. Middle east migrants are facing more difficulties. In term of weight of the situation, it might equal to the Africa or the rest of the world. So it is one third.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Personally, I prefer equal contribution depends on the number of options.

[032] 39-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 9 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. South east asia is represents about a quarter of the world, many migrants from that country also move on to Europe and North America and aid maybe needed there to help them.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. This seems to be the biggest migration crisis in human history so a disproportionate amount compared to size of the region is needed to help them at the source and where they arrive.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 62/38. middle crises is something that needs resolving quickly and is within Europe's sphere of influence. China, Japan and South Korea have more influence of Southeast Asia and can help there.

[033] 51-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 2/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||| 10/100. lots of area's have these problems its best to help all

||||||||||||||||| 17/100. this seems quite a big area

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/60. bigger area i think

[034] 25-year-old male from Spain. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 12 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 44/100. The reasoning is how many resources Southeast Asia has compared to the rest of regions, they are not exactly in a poor state but if anything in a poor political place

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Middle east is currently a place that needs a ton of resources, but I dont really respect their situation but they deserve as much help as other places since there's decent people too

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/30. Once again, I dont respect Middle East situation and, more nowadays, Asia needs help with their political problems, while Middle East is more of a religious problem, harder to fix, easier to ignore and better too

[035] NA-year-old female from Portugal. Other. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. They should try to help as many people as possible, so it should be 50/50.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 55/100. Because there are many people in the Middle East dying.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Because I'm trying to help as much as I can, so I give both charities the same amount of money.

[036] 31-year-old male from Ireland (born in United Kingdom). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. It is difficult to tell, as there is no data to show the percentage of Southeast Asian migrants compared to other regions. 30% could be very high, but it seems like a fair amount without more information

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. Again quite difficult to tell on the percentages, but based on the imagery there seemed to be a higher fatality rate, meaning more help may be needed

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both are worthy causes, and it would be difficult to choose one over the other

[037] 22-year-old female from France. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 24 min.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. I chose to allocate 20% of the budget to Southeast Asia in order to give the same amount of money to developping countries (which excludes Nothern America, some european countries, ..) with a rough approximation. But I don't have more information on the number of people in need from each region. More money should be given to those who need it most.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. I chose allocating 25% of the budget as people fleeing the Middle East are fleeing a country where a war is raging instead of fleeing for economic reasons.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I think the migrants in the Middle East might be in a more dangerous environement and therefore need more money. But, as I am half Chinese, I am willing to give more to Southeast Asians. So instead of giving 30/70, I am giving a tad bit more to Asians.

[038] 23-year-old male from Hungary. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 7 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. It seems heartless but other people need just as much if not more help then the people in Southeast Asia.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. My answer is the same as before. Other life matters just as much.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. If I'm only able to help 2 groups of people then I don't play favourites.

[039] 23-year-old male from Canada (born in China). Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 36/100. There are many migrants in other regions who also need help. Southeast Asia is only a small part of the world.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. There are many others from other regions who are migrants and facing similar situations.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both regions deserve equal attention and amount of money.

[040] 56-year-old male from United States. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 8 min.

||||||||||| 11/100. Migrants in Southeast Asia make up a small portion of all migrants.

||||||||||||| 13/100. It's a small portion of all the migrants.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. It looks like the migrants in both regions have problems and I can't justify helping one group more than the other group.

[041] 28-year-old female from United States. Not in paid work (e.g. homemaker', 'retired or disabled). Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 11 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 57/100. to try and help the migrants from southeast asia to make it alive

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 59/100. migrants in the middle east need more help surviving

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 38/62. middle east faces more trouble and harder time surviving

Comment: thank you

[042] 25-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 6 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. There are a lot of other places that also need help - It would be unfair to just help 1 group of people

|||||||||||||||||||||||||| 26/100. Same reason as before, although it's important to help these people, resources need to be spread to other countries as well.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. They are both worthy causes, helping many people. I would prefer for them to be equal.

[043] 26-year-old female from Mexico. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 36/100. i feel like all immigrants are important, not just those in southeast asia.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 36/100. all migrants are important, and i feel like more secure drivers would be a good change and not be as expensive as other more important issues.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. both migrant groups are equally important no matter where they come from.

[044] 27-year-old female from Portugal (born in France). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 9 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. Migrants is Southeast Asia need help, of course, but this charity should help people is other places too. In my opinion, no more than 1/4 of their money should be used to help people on just one area.

||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/100. The reason is the same as in the previous scenario: no more than 25% should be used to help people is just one area.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Everyone migrant should be helped, no matter where they are from.

[045] 53-year-old male from Italy. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 14 min.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. the migration of South East Asia is very wide so 20% seems appropriate and the remaining 80% to be allocated to other migrations

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. even in the Middle East the migration is very high so it needs a lot of funds

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. divided in equal parts to help both organizations

Comment: thank's

[046] 31-year-old male from Spain. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 17 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. There isn't enough information. It's necessary to know the amount of migrants from Southeast Asia and from other regions. Then, the allocation should be proportional to those amounts. However, as the description doesn't provide that information, the allocation I chose was 50-50.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Again, there isn't any information about the amount of migrants from the Middle East and the rest of regions, which could be used to establish a proportional allocation. Therefore, I chose 50-50.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Again, I would make a proportional donation. However, as there isn't any information about the amount of migrants from each region, I can only consider a 50-50 allocation. Anyway, I think this is not a solution for the problem. The only way to solve the migration problem is to solve the reasons that cause the migration in the countries of origin. And that requires a political solution.

Comment: As I said, I think this kind of initiatives aren't a solution. In fact, they can make the problem worse, because they incentivize migration in perilous conditions, often with the mediation of mafias and criminal groups that benefit from desperate people. The only solution to migration is to solve the problems that cause said migration in the countries of origin

[047] 41-year-old female from Portugal. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 5 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. every migrants need help, we must provide the better help to all the migrants around the world

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. all around the world migrants need help, we must divide the help

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. charity must be provide to all migrants in need

Comment: great study

[048] 53-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 14 min.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. This seems fair to me on a proportional basis as there will undoubtedly be a need for their resources in other regions of the world.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. 20% seems fair proportionally as there will be a requirement to assist other regions around the world using the remaining 80%.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Each organisation will benefit by the same amount and this seems fair to me.

[049] 51-year-old male from Israel (born in Germany). Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 8 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. 50/50 seems to me a reasonable approach

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Also here, 50/50 seams to be a reasonable approach

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Also here, I would split 50/50

[050] 25-year-old female from United Kingdom (born in Canada). Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 7 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. I think it's only fair. If I was a migrant in another region, I would be upset if most, or all, of their money went towards migrants in a specific region.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. The same as my last answer, it's only right to make it fair.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Fairness. Things are bad on both ends, which makes me want to help both regions.

Comment: As someone who migrated from Canada to the UK, this survey has really made me feel quite lucky to be apart of these two regions.

[051] 34-year-old female from United Kingdom. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 9 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. There is a topical need for Southeast Asian migrants but also the rest of the world will have migrant issues that need urgent help also. The size of the country of Southeast Asia compared to the rest of the world means that 35% is likely a fair amount although more calculations would be needed to make a proper decision.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 35/100. 35% woiuld be a fair amount considering there is also other areas of the world to consider. Many die in hypothermia but mostly due to vehicle incidents and so that would need to be researched as to why that is happening and ways to stop it.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Because it is a fair share for each problem.

Comment: If I were richer I would donate money but I am not. It must be hard to decide which countries need more financial help at any given time.

[052] 20-year-old male from Ireland. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 10 min.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. I do not think that there is a big problem for migrants there.

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. Those people in the middle east have always been fighting and causing problems.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 100/0. Firstly I would not donate any money, but since that was not a choice I would give it for Southeast Asia.

[053] 18-year-old male from United States. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 4/7. Time on task: 4 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 55/100. The statistics seen prior for migrant death.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 52/100. Stats for the middle east shown prior related to causes of death with some being vehicle accident.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Provide help for both regions.

[054] 68-year-old female from United States. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 11 min.

||||||||| 9/100. I don't see any reason to help migrants in Southeast Asia too much more than those in other areas of the world. If people are forced to leave their homes they need help no matter where they are from.

||| 3/100. I don't have any way of know what percentage of migrants are from the Middle East as opposed to other parts of the world. All migrants need help. According to the charts shown there weren't too many people affected from the Middle East although even one person needs help. I just guessed 3% aid to the Middle East.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both groups need help so I chose to divide the donation equally. I don't have a way of knowing the total needs for each group.

Comment: There are so many places to donate I decided long ago to choose three charities and support those. As long as I am happy with the work of those charities I rarely donate anywhere else.

[055] 27-year-old female from Estonia. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 14 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/100. Currently this region is under a lot of pressure and has one of the biggest number of help needing people. Also it is a new situation to those people and they need help to deal with the situation

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 44/100. Also because it is one of the most serious problems in this region compared to other regions

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I cant decide who needs it more so I would donate 50:50

[056] 19-year-old male from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 9 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 60/100. because people in this type of country cannot count on state aid too much, they have to rely on other institutions

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. in my opinion migrants should be treated and gifted equally, because both have very difficult situations

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. I do not look at what country or origin is a needy person, in my opinion both institutions should be given equally

Comment: I really liked this survey because we can see how people approach the topic of helping others, and especially check their approach to migrants

[057] 40-year-old male from Czech Republic (born in Croatia). Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 10 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. Because it's emergency crisis at the moment there.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. Although it is crisis in mid east whole world is in crisis too

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 51/49. There were no option to give 50/50

Comment: None

[058] 28-year-old female from Poland. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 16 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 30/100. The numbers of victims were not as hight

|||||||||||||||||||| 20/100. There is too many imigrants anyway. We are not able to help all of them

||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 25/75. It's easier to help Asian people because the numbers are smaller but I felt guilty so I paid more for Middle East

[059] 58-year-old female from United Kingdom. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 6/7. Time on task: 6 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 62/100. They are the most needy.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. All migrants should be helped

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. All should be treated equally.

[060] 39-year-old male from United Kingdom. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 5 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/100. Humanitarian issues are a worldwide concen, they are not specific to one region.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. I feel this is a particular problem in this area.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 49/51. I could not decided which charity was more important.

[061] 25-year-old male from United States. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 7/7. Time on task: 8 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 65/100. A significant population of the world resides in South-east Asia, so proportional funding seemed appropriate.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. The population is the Middle East compared to the 'other' populations of areas with migrants is fairly large, but not a majority.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. They are all people in need and there are really no differences between the list of reasons why people from either area are trying to leave.

[062] 24-year-old female from Portugal. Employed full-time. Likely to donate: 5/7. Time on task: 10 min.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 61/100. For the reasons that have been given and the state in which people find themselves, I think they deserve a bit more attention.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 33/100. I think despite the difficulties, these people do not need as much help as the previous ones.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 62/38. I was wrong and the percentage would be the other way around. In my opinion, right now Southeast Asia needs more help because they are going through more difficulties.

[063] 20-year-old male from Greece. Unemployed (and job seeking). Likely to donate: 3/7. Time on task: 19 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 70/100. A majority of migrants currently come from Southeast Asia, and with so many of them moving around the world to safer location, it becomes more and more difficult to help each and every one of them. Hence, some further funding can help with this effort.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. While a huge problem in the area, there are more migrants throughout the world who need support. As a result, a 40% allocation towards the Middle East seems reasonable.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 50/50. Both efforts are equally important in their own way. However, while it may be more important to help one region more than the other, I feel it important to allocate an equal amount to both efforts.

[064] 26-year-old male from Latvia. Employed part-time. Likely to donate: 1/7. Time on task: 13 min.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 40/100. Asian migrants respect other cultures and don't cause problems like like other types of migrants do. Considering these people are respectful and integrate well they deserve more.

|||||||||| 10/100. Migrants from middle east tend to cause problems in the countries they arrive at. Its almost impossible to filter the good people. Most of the middle east migrants are healthy men in the age range of 20-30 that migrate purely for monetary benefits.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 100/0. Theres more of these type of migrants.
